A graph is a display of the position of points correspond to some relationship between x-coordinates (the horizontal axis) and y-coordinates (the vertical axis).

A simple graph would be where you show the relationship between your heights at each of your birthdays. You'll start out around 20 inches at birth and grow as the years increase. The x-coordinate would represent the ages at each of your birthdays and the y-coordinate would be your height that that birthday, so you'll have a list of ordered pairs, age and height, which you'd place on the graph.
