The Mets beat the Red Sox in 1986. This series is most known for Bill Buckners error in game 6, which most likely cost Boston the World Series. The error broke the tie and gave Mets a win. The Mets won 4 games to 3.

I986 but I'm not sure I'd say that team underachieved. They won 108 games, beat the Houston Astros in an absolute dogfight to get to the World Series and then were within not just an out but a strike of losing the World Series on several occasions before coming back to win it. As a matter of fact, in a legendary gaffe, the Shea scoreboard operator put up "Congratulations RedSox" on the message board when he thought the last out had been made.

LOL - the crimson Sox have approximately as a good number of of project because of the fact the Mets do. The Twins, Rangers, Yankees, Rays, White Sox, Giants, Rockies, Padres, Reds, Phillies, and Braves are the communities that actually have a valid risk of bobbing up the postseason. The Yankees, Rays, Rangers, and Reds are a lock to make it; the Twins, Braves, and Phillies will in all risk make it, and the others would desire to combat their way in. Any group that makes the playoffs has a shot to make the international sequence. maximum could say that the Yankees and Phillies may be the main deadly communities contained in the playoffs, on condition that they have 2 or 3 aces of their rotations. yet for my section, those communities all have high quality beginning pitchers, and that i thinkt he playoffs willl be some thing of a toss up this year.

1986 - the year of Bill Buckner. Mookie Wilson hit a shot down the first base side that went through Bill's legs in the 6th game. The Mets came from behind in the 7th game to win the series. Bill Buckner should not be known for that one play -- he's a great sportsman and won the American League batting title.
