I'm researching African Dwarf Frogs and I keep finding conflicting websites. Almost all the sites I've been to contradict one another.

So my question is this:

Can I mix African Dwarf Frogs with any species of fish or should I keep them in their own tank?

Any tropical fish - yes. They MUST be kept at a minimim constant of 78 degrees, or you're going to run into serious problems (read up on Red Leg - commonly caused by too cool temperatures, always fatal). Dwarf frogs will only grow to a maximum of two inches, and are generally too slow and too small to feast on fish.

I have three in my 55-gallon with most of my fish (2 silver dollars, one male betta, seven neon tetras, three fancy-tailed guppies, three zebra danios, and five cory cats), and another two in quarantine (til I know they're free of chytrid fungus) with a neon, two ottos, and a devil sucker.

Oh, and seriously - keep any new frogs you get away from other fish for two months. Chytrid fungus has been rampant pretty much everywhere, and it's pretty hard to treat once it starts to spread. Read up on it here:

get rid of the angel fish. Even though they are small now, they wont stay that way. Those angels need about 50 gallons. What kind of tetras are they? If they are neons or something similar sized, then get rid of the angels and an African Dwarf Frog (NOT an African Clawed Frog) would be a great addition. The only problem would be ensuring the frog got enough food. The best way to do this is to get a small ceramic dish (like the kind used to feed hamsters) and put it at the bottom of the tank. Put the frog's food in there every day. Eventually the frog will learn when and where to go for breakfast and will chase the tetras away from his meal on his own. But I cant emphasis enough to find a new home for those angels!

African Dwarf Frogs can be housed with fish that share the same traits as them. This means fish that:

Are tropical and enjoy/thrive in water temperatures of 70-80 degrees.

Are docile but larger than the frogs--African Dwarf Frogs will eat fish smaller than they are as they do eat live foods.

Don't enjoy strong currents.

Don't produce a great deal of waste that contributes to insane ammonia levels in the water.

Most people successfully keep African Dwarf Frogs and Jumbo Neon Tetras or Platies in together.

With peaceful community fish you can keep the non-clawed ones. The major issue is that it's hard to make sure they are getting enough food as the fish tend to get to it 1st. Some people feed the fish on one side of the tank and drop in the frog food in the other side. Others use a tube or jar to isolate the frogs while they feed.

Yes, i'm pretty sure you can. You can always go to an aquarium and check. When you look at the frogs, they always have little goldfish and other fish swimming around in they're tank.

Depends on the species, but sure. In fact - when you go to an LFS you will usually find them mixed in with Tetras of some sort.
