Because at the end of the day we don't care.
We watch tv commercials showing children dying of poverty but we continue to eat our dinners without caring.
When we realize we have an obligation to others only then will we help them.
That's why Islam and Christianity are good things when practiced correctly.
If you look at conrad's answer, you will see basic ignorant answers.
As if children from war-torn Sudan have a chance to be "intelligent". People in India work much harder and longer than we do and have many more original ideas YET THIS GUY IS SAYING WE WORK HARDER?
Get over yourself. You wouldn't survive one second in the real world.

Because the other 90% are foolish with their money and buy things they don't need from the other 10%.
We could evenly distribute all the money in the world. Within 2 years, things would all be the same again

IF the wealth was redistributed tomorrow then the same people would have the money in 10 years time again. It does not matter what you spend your money on you are getting ripped off.... e.g buy a brand new car it losses £1500 just driving it off the forecourt. expensive £90 trainers etc etc. It HAS to be that way. Money is there for ANYONE who wants it badly enough and I wont be told otherwise. PLEASE READ THE POST BELOW MINE ....SPOT ON.

Rich and poor are relative terms. For every rich person there has to be poor people.Suppose that the people who read this were all muti millionaires who would empty our wheely bins?As for your question think of Richard Branson or J.K Rowling(wrote her first book in a Glasgow bedsit),it's luck, being in the right place at the right time, inheritance, the list goes on.

There is too much control over the media by the 10%. Most people believe what they read in the papers or do not understand the diversionary tactics of the mass media. Otherwise they will be wiser - like you or me.But rest assured, there will be a redistribution soon. All things are cyclical.

It's a difficult question; however, the rich usually get better educations, save and spend money wisely, make viable investments, take calculated risk and live a little below their means.
The poor quit school, blow their money on booze and drugs. Don't take initiatives to start businesses etc:

If you look at that supposed 10%, you will see that most of them were in the same situation in life before they got to where they are now.
And the first thing they will tell you when you ask how they got there is,"I got off my *** and did something besides ******...."
