Each quarter is 15 minutes on the clock, but watching the games usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour each quarter. But the clock starts at 15:00 and runs down. This does not include time outs, flags, etc.

An NFL quarter is 15 minutes "football" time. But in real life it takes approx. 45 minutes to play a quarter.
