Azkaban, hands down. It has the best atmosphere, in that it's creepy, but not too scary. It also introduces Remus, who I love, and shows us a side of Harry's father and friends we didn't know about. I love the scene where Harry discovers his father and friends were the mauraders, and that they made the map, and was sad they didn't add it to the movie.

I'll tell you my top 3 faves...
My favorite HP book would have to be Order of Phoenix. This is when the books get really exciting. Sirius was my favorite character, so I was SO sad when he died. My favorite chapter in the book is "Snape's Worst Memory", I think it was interesting. We find out a lot more about the past and it is very entertaining.
I like the 3rd book second because we are introduced to Lupin and Sirius, my favorite characters...Like you said, lots of important information is said. That is the reason why I like the 6th book 3rd. I enjoy seeing Voldemort's past as Tom Riddle.

Prisoner of azkaban...by far...It was so thought provoking, thrilling and happy. And yes...we learned so much and met so many characters. I was very disappointed that the quiddich house cup didnt make the movie script.

It was a lil scary, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book!

For me it has to be the 2nd the chamber of secrets because it was really exciting, but didn't focus so much on the battle between good and evil as much as the later books-it had more Hogwarts stuff in it. Once the plot began to focus more and more on Voldemort I personally felt the books really went downhill, although I still think she's a fantastic author. And I always hate it when great characters die.

The Prisoner of Azkaban because we got a great portrayal of the adult characters that would become important in future novels. I also just love Remus.

My favorite book is Order of the Phoenix, coming in at second was Half-Blood Prince. I like these because they are extremely fast paced. I also love the tricks the Weasley twins pull in #5. They seriously cracked me up. Long car rides are a blast with a Harry Potter book with you.

I'd have to say the first. It's just because it was so much fun getting to know all those wonderful characters. I agree with having trouble waiting for the next books. I'm so sad it will be the last in the series.

I enjoy the 4th: Goblet of Fire best. It has an enticing atmosphere...you can't put it down. The suspense is immense. My heart was throbbing the entire time I read the book.
