You can overseed which means buying seeds that are good for your climate and spreading them by hand or with a spreader. Water, use straw if you want but isn't a must. Then if you are sure it's not a fungus, which will cause this....brown spot and you can treat with fungicide from nursery .I would then wait until spring and use a weed and feed and overseed again if it looks too thin. good luck!

If it is bare, you will probably have to reseed it. Make sure to rough up dirt before putting seed on then cover it with straw to
keep the seed in place. Lots of watering!

Ive been chucking the budgies old seed on mine and it seems to be doing fine, we have level 4 water restrictions where i live, and it seems to be very hardy.

YOU COULD START BY PUTTING LIME ON IT THEN OVER SEED IT AND APPLY A GOOD BALANCE FERTLIZER BUT YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT FOR SPRING TO START THIS PROJECT IF YOU LIVE NORTH OF THE MASON DIXON . GOOD LUCK AND SHAME ON YOU FOR THE NEGLECT
