would that be Politics/International Realtions...would knowing a language help? what other skills would i need?

Yes, Politics/International Relations would be the type of coursework you want to complete. You might also want to take some history courses, public relations, public speaking, communicaitons ...anything like that. It's great to have the politics background, but you also want to be able to be well-spoken and get your point across. Also, if you have the time in your schedule, definitely learn another language! language, political science, international finance maybe

my mom has been doing volunteer things for and at the UN for awhile. She has also worked as an international observer for elections in some of the former Soviet countries.

I think the UN should be disbanded, but she thinks it is just great .
