The next Batman film will have this new Joker character being based on the famous grahic novel: "The Killing Joke". Nice!
It's going to be the darker, sinister, maniacal and homicidal Joker that Christopher Nolan wants to bring. Batman fans rejoice!

First, Jack Nicholson is TOO OLD to play the Joker opposit a younger Batman. Second, this is not part 6 to the Batman series. Batman Begins began a NEW updated series, much like Tim Burton's was a new update to the old tv show, this is an update to his almost 20 year old movies. Third, Heath Ledger IS a very talented actor. No we haven't seen him do anything like the Joker but that's the point of being an actor. You ACT! And he is very capable! Look at his previous work, with few exceptions, his characters have all been different. And he's got LOTS of charm, just like Jack N., to play The Joker. IMHO Remember, this is a younger cast and the characters will reflect that....

He doesn't have that famous smile that Jack Nicholson has. No one could ever play a better maniac than Jack.

If they had the Joker then it would only make the movie a remake of the first Batman. If they change the story than there would be a lot of angry fans. They need a new villan. Like Firefly or something. Firefly would be a worthy opponent for another film.

Eww NO! The only good Joker is Jack Nicholson (sp?) But if there was a choice then I think Jim Carrey. Heath Ledger doesn't know what it means to be funny.

And they shouldn't even come out with the Joker in this one, they already had him in the first Batman movie.

Absolutely not! Heath Ledger is awful, he does not come off as "dark" or "maniacal" to me at all. You couldn't find one that fitted less as the Joker.

darker, sinister, maniacal and homicidal joker .......... why don't you just say it .........CHEAPSKATE! .......... he couldn't afford jack Nicholson so he brings in a virtual unknown at a fraction of the cost.

If he was cast, then I guess he was the right choice.
