You are probably financially stable and have a bit in the bank. But you don't really give enough information - are you newly married or been together a long time? Do you have kids or not and if you do howe old are they.
I would say that is high time you started living your dreams a bit. You are more than half way thorugh your time on this planet in all probability and it is now possible ot do so much more than when we were young. So to heck with it - get a tattoo, invest in some sex toys, visit far flung places. My dad is nearing retirement and he joined a rock band as a drummer a few years ago.
