infants role expectations, and how have they changed?

Well, one area that infant expectations has changed came about with the invention of the disposable diaper. It used to be that babies were expected to pee in an appropriate area, such as a chamber pot or a potty, or outside. Usually potty training began somewhere between the ages of birth and six months, and most babies were fully toilet trained by the time they were 18 months. Starting in about the 1960's with the invention of disposable diapers, suddenly the age of potty training went up and up and now nobody expects a 2 year old to be potty trained, and usually not a 3 year old, either. It's interesting that only in a couple generation's time this has happened.

Infants usually aren't required to do chores or anything. They don't have the coordination for that yet.

I agree with the previous poster. They eat, sleep, and poop. Don't expect anything more from them or you'll be disappointed.

Babies sleep, eat, poop, cry, grow up, you as the parents do all the tasks to make sure they grow up in a safe environment and are taken to the doctor for their check ups etc....maybe I miss understood the question, but babies need to be taken care of, they don't take care of others, not yet anyways.
