We are in Windsor, Ontario (Canada) right now visiting our family, because it's Thanksgiving in Canada this weekend. I dunno why the U.S. and Canada dates for Thanksgiving are different but, yeah. Anyways, I was wondering if it's considered wrong to celebrate Thanksgiving twice? Because we still plan on having Thanksgiving in Ohio were we live, in November.

No, why would it be? Giving thanks is being polite, so giving twice as many thanks by having two Thankgiving Day celebrations would only be more faithful or thankful. :]

Celebrate Thanksgiving twice? Sure! Why not?

You can always "scale down" the second celebration- maybe not as much food. You will probably have the day off from school or work when you're back in Ohio. So, why not??

You can be thankful in 2 different countries! :)

I don't think its wrong to celebrate Thanksgiving twice.

Thanksgiving is about showing how you appreciate something, so if you have Thanksgiving twice, you're 2 times more grateful about something!

If you want a more reassuring answer, then look at it this way: you're all the more thankful than everyone else.

Why? You should be thankful all year long, not just one day out of the year. If you want to celebrate twice, then go for it.

Using that logic, people who celebrate winter holidays more than once (including splitting Christmas with various family members) would be wrong too, but they're not. So enjoy!

no its not wrong . good thing they are a month apart so you can lose some weight to regain again. they are at different times because they celebrate thanksgiving for a different reason than the USA , the Canadians celebrate for a bountiful harvest and we celebrate to remember as the pilgrims did their safe journey and for making it through the first hard winter and to be in a free land

It's perfectly ok. Look at how many people go to one celebration with one side of family and then go for a second with the spouse's family.....the same day most of the time. At least you get to spread your calories out. Don't worry what others think, just eat, celebrate, and be thankful since that is what it's really all about.

No it isn't. You can celebrate any holiday as many times as you wish. We celebrated Christmas twice last year. Once on Christmas day and again a few days later when my daughter came to see us. There is nothing wrong with it. I say celebrate it twice and have a good time.

No. Just think of it as being really blessed and thankful for all that you have. Many people would be grateful to have 2 Thanksgivings with their families.

Why would it be wrong. When people lived in little straw huts, there was a month of Thanksgiving.

you should give thanks everyday. and eat more turkey -- its good for you. I am not sure where the canadian thanksgiving came from but ours was made up of lies to make people feel better about themselves and more patriotic during the civil war. the pilgrims were not friendly with the natives even though the pilgrims did steal the natives crops. So you eat turkey and squash to celebrate this ribald thievery.

Actually, you should celebrate Thanksgiving EVERYDAY...be grateful and appreciate the blessings we have been given---EVERYDAY...there is certainly nothing wrong with twice.
