when i try to seed stich, i end up getting 3 times as many loops on my needles...what am i doing wrong?

If I understand your question... you are knitting and trying to form the "seed" stitch. That stitch is made by knitting on both sides of the material-- the loops from the "knit" stitch is what you see as "seeds". Watch the loops slide off the needles-- I think you are knitting a stitch and not sliding the knitted stitch off the needle.
