Perhaps take it to a jeweller ( a proper one, not those crappy high street chains)? Or, take it to a local antique dealer who may either be able to help you themselves, or have a contact they could put you in touch with.

I'm afraid I've no clue how much it may cost, or if it's even possible.

Hiya
Yes you can have it "dipped" in a metal that is called palladium. This is the same coating that is used for white gold. White gold isn't really a metal just a colour coating on yellow gold. please make sure that your jeweller uses a sufficient amount of microns ( the thickness of the plating ) or this will wear off very quickly and you will just see the gold colour back again. Also if you are wearing on a chain make sure the ct's match (ie dont wear a 9ct gold chain with the 18ct locket ) or this will make the plating wear quicker. Hope this helps

Don't coat it - it loses it's vintage quality. Even if it isn't "real" gold - you don't mention it - you shouldn't change it.

Just enjoy it as it is - hang it on your bedroom mirror.

And get yourself a silver locket to wear... (ask for one for Christmas? Tell your parents you don't want to wear the other too much because you are afraid you'll lose it!)
