The 318ti lasted until 2004 in E46 trim - but that was Europe rather than the US - where the 318ti's final year was in 1999.

LOL, a 3 series compact! Only in the USA...
In the UK a 3 series is in the same size class as a Mondeo, Vectra, A4, Passat etc. So a typical size 4 door saloon. A 5series is a large saloon.
The compact ceased production in 2004 when it was replaced by the 1 series.

Probably 2000 or 2001 for the E36 Compact.

The 3 serious is still considered a compact. 5 is mid size 7 is full sized.
