To download is to receive data from a place you can't immediately access, such as a website, server, or other similar systems. To upload is to send data from a local system ( one near you, the one you're at, ) to a remote system ( one far away from you ).

Copy down data from other computers to our own.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicide attempt.)

it means simply to bring a file from one location upon the net and bringing it to your local computer that you're bringing it to... it's like when a baby poo's.... his bottom is the computer where the file is held or stored, while his pampers is the computer where the "poopy files" will be "downloaded" to.
