I went to google images and typed in 'childhood'. For this search, I got pictures of things like this:
Balloons
Baby clothes
Playgrounds
Sidewalk Chalk
Baby food
Dolls
Toys
Building blocks
Things like that might help. So I hope this was useful to you.

Images I associate with childhood?
Standing in my back yard at age 5 or 6, regarding my swingset, and abruptly realizing that the life before me was a motion picture beyond my control....
I'm sorry... I wish I could refer you to a website related to childhood understanding of ones' own mortality, but I have to imagine Google wasn't around to record any video of the event.... ;)

Coming home with my mum to find our house had been destroyed by a German bomb
My grandfather teaching me how to use tools in his shed.
Uncle Bob visiting to kill and skin the rabbits we kept for extra meat.
The smell of ink, poster paint and chalk in my primary school.
My first girl-friend Jacqueline, we were both five and a half.
Watching planes "dog fighting" over London.
The wet, warm smell when we had to stay in the air-raid shelter at the bottom of my grandfather's garden and the "all clear" sound of the air-raid siren when we could come out.
A million other things that I have no time or space to write.
It might not sound too good but I must say I was in no way unhappy.
