Call a vet. They might have some medication you could put in the water.

You didn't say what kind of fish you have, but I'm sure all advise will be similar regardless. First off, you've got to make your kids understand that putting food in a fish tank is not a joke! It's like us breathing poison; we can't do it for long! It is possible that he will die, but I don't know. Just keep that tank clean, out of reach of the kids, and get some BettaFix Remedy (if your fish is a siamese fighting fish, that is) from your pet store, and put the right amount in the water. I hope he's okay soon. Best of luck!

you might as well get you another betta fish, if he isn't already gone by now. They are a delicate fish and they really don't live too long without proper care, they are pain to take care of too. You can't just use tap water, you have to let the water set out for a day or two when you want to change their bowl. I never really had any luck with them. Next time tell the kids that you will feed the fish and put them up high where it won't be easy for them to get to it.

Sadly enough, I don't think that your fish is going to make it. The food in the water caused some dammage and possibly a rapid change from the gross water to the clean might have made things worse. I don't know anything else you can do.

wow, the children are really abusing your fish. he might *possibly*
die, but if he happens to survive, find out what kind of water it's natural to, (ex. Salt Water), use a water/air filter, feed it regularly with it's specified food.

Unfortunately, it sounds like he will die soon. However, you can call or visit a fish or pet supply store and ask for advice.

sorry to say this doesnt sound like a very good sign.. when my fish started to rot they usually ended up dying. try putting some table salt in his water though, sometimes i find that helps.
