Try to update the drivers manually. Go to the Device Manager and right click the hardware having problems and update the driver. If that doesn't work, try rolling back the driver. If that doesn't work go to the Hardware compatibilty Checklist on Microsoft.

J.Tech is right you can try to roll back the driver to a previous setting.Also if nothing else goto the dell web site.Look for support page.On it you can download drivers for your computer.Make sure you get the ones for your computer model.

Can't answer such a broad question. Do you have onboard sound (legacy) what kind is it.
Do you have a sound card and what kind. I am surprised, Dell useually has all these recovery CD for everything?

either get new ones
or if it has a hookup hook it up to a sterio
