It depends on how much body and prep work is required as body shops charge a hourly rate for body work and the more they have to do the higher the cost. Shops like "MAACO" can scuff sand,mask and paint your car for as cheap as $250.00.

I also own a 1991 Caprice and it too needs a paint job but I found out that it cost 2 times as much as the car is worth so I just used caned spray paint $3.00

depends on where you get it, how much body work needs to be done, the type of paint(enamel, metallic, chameleon, pearlescent etc), number of coats of clearcoat you want etc etc etc. i would call around or drive around and get "rough estimates" before i would take anyone's word in here that just throws out a number to you. i am getting my 92 cadillac sedan deville's paint completely redone in silver metallic with chameleon color change for right at $2000.00, but had i not gone with the chameleon, i could have gotten it done for about $1000.00.

$12 buy cheap paint at walmart and do it your self
