"School shootings" while always tragic, are not a significant problem that can be "solved". They are simply a consequence of living in a very large free society that has access to guns. If you adjust the data to reflect what percentage of the population die each year in these horrible events, it has actually been trending DOWN for 40 years. On August 1st, 1966, a fellow name of Whitman killed 15 people and wounded 31 others at the University of Texas before he was shot dead by Austin police. Shocking though Columbine was, Dylan Klebold shot and killed two fewer people and wounded ten less. So logically you could conclude we should keep doing whatever it is we are already doing.
It's important to be human & sympathetic in these events, but it's equally important to maintain perspective and not allow "gut reaction" to guide our responses to horrible occurrences.
If we really wanted to save children's lives, we would make them wear crash helmets in cars. That would save literally thousands more lives than metal detectors in schools.

The bad guys prefer unarmed victims!!.
When seconds matter calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option.
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!
**Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens.**
So you are against the private ownerships of gun! Do you believe in fire extinguishers? Why, you can always call the fire department!!
No Weapons Allowed
Criminals this is a defense free zone
All law abiding people have been disarmed for you

Allow teachers and administrators to carry firearms. All (and I mean ALL) of the high profile shootings in the past decade have been in places where the legal carry of firearms is generally prohibited, making the victims sitting ducks. The teacher who was killed at Columbine had a .45 in his car, he (and probably many of the children who died with him) definitely would NOT have died if he could have shot the offenders first.

I think that the school shooting are horrific I all so think that parents need to make their children a priority over money and possions. I think these kids are incedible hurt and they are acting out to get attention. After all bad attention is better than no attention at all. These kids are angry because they are hurt badly and have no coping skills.

start discipline early and if you cant control a child at school send them home and let the court fine the parents until they decide discipline is good for the child and when they grow older they will have good behavior instilled into them. kids have no fear or respect for authority figures of any kind. they must be taught respect through punishment like the generation ahead of them were.

Gun control has done more harm than good, if owning a gun is made illegal, who then has the guns? I'll answer that for you, people that don't obey the law. Schools are a known 'safe zone' for crack-pots, the police don't arrive until it's too late.

Put prayer back in our schools.Madeline O'hara started sueing the gov't to take it out and they said ok.Masters&Jonson said not to spank a child to correct them and the courts said ok.Is it any wonder kids grow up not knowing right from wrong?God or a higher power,if u will,is turning his back on us because we turned our back on him.Look around. There's nothing but violence on the news.
