Marriage doesn't matter as much anymore. It's becoming an out dated institution. Also, there's no need to cover up and hide pregnancy like there used to be. Also, we now know that sex is just sex but, unfortunately young people are not getting the education they need about safe sex and birth control. What about the poor babies? I don't think single parented children are poor babies unless we're talking about the parents financial issues.

Fifty or so years ago, people held true to their religions. If a teenager thought he or she would be going to hell if they had premarritable sex, them they would wait and get married. I know that a lot of people today aren't very religious and the only consquences they think about are the real ones, like getting an STD or getting pregnant. It's also more socially exceptable to have a child at a young age without being married. Perhaps it's not that more children are being born out of wedlock. Perhaps it's that you just hear more about it these days.

Maybe because they aren't aloud to teach BIRTH CONTROL in alot of schools, they teach abstinence. Its great to tell kids NOT to do something and why, but they need to be taught alternatives too. That and what the ramifications are in the long run if they make certain decisions. Everyone says Abortion is wrong.. but they don't want to teach kids how to be responsible so they don't have to make a decision like that.

There's an old saying that, "how can you know the answers, when you arent old enough to have heard all the questions" They see bad things happening, but dont think it will happen to them..Every human thinks the are invunerable, and they can get thru any situation without repercussions...It's a sad thing....Age and experience outdoes youth and exuberence...

Do you mean people like Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie? Both young and unmarried. Nice role models, huh?

It's a shame, isn't it? Maybe kids think it's cool or it could be a cultural thing, who knows, but the babies suffer for the foolishness of their parents.

poor parenting--parents aren't keeping an eye on what their children are doing and where they are going. kids generally don't ask parents to go on birth control. just my thoughts

its because they think they are mature enough to have a relationship with a boy who is not yet matured to have sex with a girl and to take the responsibilities to take care of her, if she does get pregnant.....70% of the time she will, because they didnt use protection

yes they are being less responsible..they don't know wat they r doing (and they don't think about what they r doing), until they actually get pregnant....ppl need to take it seriously, a baby is alot of work (from what i have heard)..having a baby is not a walk in the park....they want to have sex cause they like the way it feals (from wat i have heard)....
