For unrequited-love with anything other than another person/creature of the same species, it has to be "I Wish I Could Fly" by Orville.

The Unchained Melody

I know it's not the intended meaning of the lyrics, but I find Papa Roach: Scars to be exactly how I felt.

"I tear my heart open,
I sew myself shut,
My weakness is,
That I care too much.
The scars remind me
That the past is real,
I tear myself open,
Just to feel

I was in unrequited love at the time, and these lyrics really hit me. She had broken my heart, and the lyrics describe how it feels to try and get over this. I am a nice guy, and deep down I knew it wasn't to be, but I fell for her anyway, so the caring too much really was me.

I have emotional scars that will never fully heal, and the second half reminds me of this

I'm fine now, but I still think of her a bit. Hence the scars.

Hey Ho, life goes on!

I love the oldies...

Agree with those who say, Unchained Melody.

'Crying' or 'Only the Lonely' or 'She's a Mystery Girl' - Roy Orbison
No-one did it as well as The Big O.

Maybe 'Different Corner' - George Michael
