I assume you are referring to Demri Parrott, Staley's girlfriend who died in 1996. She passed away from bacterial endocarditis, which is an bacterial infection of one the heart valves. She contracted it from sharing needles while shooting heroin. After Parrott's death, Staley became ever more reclusive until his own death in 2002.
