As a respiratory therapist and mother of a baby with severe reflux, you need to address this with your childs pediatrican, if your ped thinks its reflux, go to a specialist don't let the ped doc handle this only gi docs should adress this. You should also ask about rast testing (blood testing for milk and soy protien allergies)
It sounds like reflux though and can easily be treated!
My son is on prevacid, we tried zantac and axid neither of the last two was strong enough for his case, the axid was what he was on when they found severe bleeding in his lungs from aspirating reflux (they scoped his lungs after my being upset about him being in distress for a few days).

Consider these before taking any action...
hace you changed the baby's formula recently? because he could have an allergy to it, making him sick.
Does the baby have any mineral allergy or any lactose allergy?
my son became lactose intolerant around 2 weeks after we were released from the hospital and he had been having similac all that time, we immediately swiched to isomil. we also tried similac without lactose but he was allergic to the whey protein used in lactose free formulas.
Is he spitting up or vomiting?!? spitting up should be effortless and its usually however much they can fit in the mouth. Vomiting takes effort...exertion from the chest and breathing and contracting of the stomach muscles, it is usually a large amount of fowl smelling liquid/bile.Get him to ur DR if so.
Has he been sick recently? is he growing teeth? some kids get sick to their stomachs when the are sick and making getting teeth.
Are you feeding the baby at a partially sitting almost upright position? I know its not that great for our backs but my neighbor had this problem and i suggested she set him up almost sitting for his feedings and 15 mins after, so that the liquid stays in his tummy.
Are you feeding the baby too much? ask your pediatrician what is the recommended amount for your son at his weight and age level, the DR usually have a feeding chart they can give you, because all babies are different.
Has the baby been checked for acid reflux? This could be a developed ailment, but most babies with acid reflux have it since birth.
Don't try feeding the baby any rice or cereal yet until you can have these Q's all resolved.

Mybe he has acid reflux. If it is alot of it & frequently it probably is.You can thicken his bottle with cereal. This will help the spitting.Though nothing will stop it completely. The doctor can put him on Zantac. This only relieves the burning sensation.Keep him upright for 30 mins after each feeding. In a swing or carseat. My son had it bad & had to sleep in his swing until 6mths old. Most babies grow out of it.My doctor said by 12mths.My son is 15mths & still spits up from time to time.I put 6teaspoons of cereal to 4oz of formula. Not every baby is the same though,so u have to figure out what works for him.Oatmeal cereal gets thicker than rice.If you are worried go to the doctor for advice,as i am not one.

My son had acid reflux quite bad and we had to sleep him on a 10 degree slope in his cot. We also gave him, on the suggestion of his doctor, was small amounts of Mylanta. Helps with adults heartburn which is exactly what your baby is experiencing. Only give him 5mls or so before every feed, you'll be amazed at the difference.

If you are using formula, and the spitting up keeps up, you can buy a formula that is thickened with rice startch and it's specially desgined for babies who spit up frequently (more than 4 times daily). It is clinically shown to reduce frequent spit up in babies when compared to standard formula, the brand name is Enfamil A+. Spitting up 4 + times a day is not uncommon, and it can be considered normal, and the spittin up phase usually ends when babies can sit up! But if you are really worried you could ask your doctor!! I hope this helps you!!!

I agree with the over feeding or reflux. Back off an ounce or two and keep him elevated for a few minutes longer than usual after a feeding. It shoudl resolve itself, if not, contact dr.

Its a common problem. Acid reflux. My son had it from a month old up to a year old. You can get some meds from the peditrician to help. When you lie him down at night, elevate his head just a little, you'll be amazed at how this helps and try to get him to slow down when drinking formula. He may get mad but it will help.
If you are really worried, talk to your peditrician.

Try burping him a little longer. My daughter went through a spell of that too. Sometimes I would have to spend twice the time burping her even after she had burped to get a big one out of her. Also, you might want to try to give him more little meals rather than big ones if he is spitting up a lot. He will grow out of it. If he seems like he is in pain or continues to spit up a lot, talk to his doctor.

Might be heartburn(acid reflux). After your baby eats let you son sit up for about 30 minutes. It' probably something he is eating. Formulas are known to do this. Anyway, talk to your doctor.
