You do not chose who you are attracted to...did you all of a sudden wake up one day and say OH I think I'll like girls today? It is a natural attraction...the choice is weather you act on it or deny your true feelings.

First of all, let's not use the word 'homo,' it's derogatory.

As with most traits, sexuality is part nature and part nurture. Sometimes it's more one than the other, but it all depends.

As the others have duely noted, ask yourself if you would choose to be a minority. Would you actively make the choice to be discriminated agaisnt? The answer, I'm sure, is no.

The statistics on homosexuality is vastly inacurate. Due to societal and religious pressures, most gays live their whole lives in the closet. I would hazzard a guess and say that there is some degree of homosexuality in about half the worlds population. (Trust me I've traveled alot)

I was 26 when I finally came out as 'Bi-sexual.' But I noticed that I was noticing girls as well as boys just before puberty, about 12. Some homosexuals will notice even before then. But lets be clear about this, it's not a choice any more than you choose the colour of your eyes.

So can you imagine just how scary it would be as a kid to realise that you are gay? You know that people hate gays and that people think the bible says its wrong, but at the same time, you can not stop those feelings no matter how hard you try to. So you try to stop those feelings as you grow up, so you can fit in. One fine day, you realise that fitting in is so over-rated and embrace who you were all along. At least, that is the best case senario in this sad story. Some people repress these feelings and it can drive them crazy.

So, no. Gay guys don't think, I'm not pulling any girls, I'll give lads a try. Thats just silly darling.

Yes, and no. While someone may be born with a proclivity toward one gender, it takes a choice to follow through on it...for example, lots of men may prefer sex with men, but they follow society's pressure and marry women. True, they are lying to their spouse about their true natures, having children and repressing their true feelings, but for some reason, society sees that as the better option. Hopefully that will change. Yes, people are born to be gay, and yes, people make a choice to live a gay life or to subjugate themselves and deny their happiness and "be" straight. Being gay is not necessarily a birth defect either. Gays have held important positions in history, in religion, war, empire-building, teaching, you name it they've been there. Gays are part of the human condition, plain and simple. Very few people marry nowadays with the sole purpose of having children. People tend to marry for love, and a desire to spend their lives together...not solely to bring children into the world. With the use of birth control, humans have already separated the act of sex from always being a potential act of procreation. Hopefully your question about "homos choosing to be homos" can eventually become an answer of "straights choosing to end the hatred, fear and ignorance."

No. If it were a choice, who in the right mind would CHOOSE to be gay? Especially with all the **** that gays get from those bigots. It's just cause they are. Do you choose to be straight? Do you choose who you like? No. You just do. Point blank.

Some choose, some are born that way. Anyone who believes otherwise believes this is a black and white issue of your either this or that, which is illogical.

Personal experience: I've actually met both kinds, a few true born lesbians, and a few who choose to be with women because of their hate for men.

Anyone who asks why would someone choose to be gay......the answer is, sexism goes a long way.

No choice. I mean, you didn't choose to be mentally handicapped did you? No, you were just born that way.
