I was watching Cast Away with Tom Hanks the other night, and i don't know what happened after he was saved by the big ship when he had escaped to the ocean. The last thing I saw was he was on the plane headed back home towards some sort of ceremony welcoming back his return. Could anybody tell me what happened in the rest of the movie?!

First of all, it's playing again tonight on TNT at 8:00 EST. If you want the details, read on...

He's rescued by the ship, reunited w/ his friend. Fed Ex has a celebration party for him and Kelly is supposed to see him. Since it's more than 4 yrs, she's finally moved on w/ her life - she's married and has a little girl (who's probably about a year or 1.5 yrs old). She's very conflicted and can't get up the courage to see him. He then goes on to the "party" and sleeps in his hotel room feeling very isolated & disoriented. He recalls a story to his friend about how he was so desperate on the island that he was going to commit suicide...so, that explains the whole story behind the rope on that cliff.

He then goes on to visit Kelly at her house. She's thrilled to see him, but feels completely conflicted. She says he's the love of her life, but now she's committed to her family. She had a whole room in her house dedicated to him w/ all of the search maps and memories of him. She then gives him his minivan back, runs after him (as if she's going to run away w/ him), but then goes back to her old life.

He then drives down to Texas to deliver the 1 FedEx package that he has saved - the one w/ the butterfly on it. He ends up meeting the woman on the road, and it's ambiguous, but it looks like he's is going to follow her & try to start a new life - maybe with her in it.

There was a welcome home reception. His fiance had remarried and had children. He wanted her, she wanted him, but she felt a responsiblity to stay with her family. Tom Hanks understood and went away in his truck that she had saved all those years. At the end, he delivers the Fed Ex package to the iron works lady whose symbol was the wings with rings around it. She's hot, he starting over. The end. Possiblities.
