It really depends on circumstances. I have a big family & 1 of my siblings was able to take care of our Mom full time.. so mom stated with her until her passing. However this 1 sibling was out of work at the time. She did not have to work to make ends meet. In reality it is difficult. If you have a few siblings and between yourself & others you can manage to take care of an ailing parent, it probably is better that way. However everyone needs to keep in mind how much care the person needs before deciding what avenue to go. Our Mom need care, however she did not require 24/7 skilled care. We used hospice.. a nurse came in at least once a day & an aide also came in for a few hrs a day... So that helped... Then the rest of us were able to coordinate our Mom's care, to give our one sister some time to herself. Best of luck to you

I am totally not for this. Because did you parents give up on you and give you away? Actually, you do give them away . I've worked in nursing homes and it's the last place I would want my mother to be. There's "A LOT" of things people don't know that happens in a home setting . Believe me !!!!!! It's sad .........

I think most people in general think it is wrong. My parents made sure that I had everything I needed as a child and in their old age I intend to do the same for them.

I doubt that christianity has anything to do with it. Old people are abused and mistreated in most rest homes.

Yes, many people do, Christian or not.

because they think it is their duty to help all they can, the people who helped them have life.

Usually, these people have a whole lot of guilt about their relationship to those parents.
