The ark of the covenant was exactly that and ark ( container ) which carried the covenant ( the Ten Commandments, God's convenant with Moses ). According to history the ark was lost.

The Arc of the Covenant is the legendary box that the pieces of the original 10 Commandments were placed in after Moses smashed them. As to where it currently is, no one know, if it even still exists.

The arch of the covenant repersented the present of God:I have not heard of anyone finding any remains of it.though harrison ford made a fiction movie about the arch of the covenant:raiders of the lost ark,but it was all hollywood.

the ark was a box with a communicator and laser on top of it.
it was used to speak with some aliens. who eventually got disgusted and went somewhere else.
the laser was used to help smite some enemies. It wasn't much of a laser though.
some dumba*ss who was in charge of transporting the box couldn't leave it alone and broke it.
the box then ended up being acquired by various "tribes" and poisoned them with radiation.
It is currently in a US govt warehouse.
