i heard George Lucas planned to make 3 trilogies. a total of nine films. is any of this true, that would be so awesome, there still is evil lurking in the universe, just as in the books, and there has to be a story for Leia, so i hope it is true!

The original plan was for 9 films, but during production, Lucas decided that the saga could be told in 6 films. This is what I heard from Lucas during an interview when the last film came out, so I don't know if any of his plans have changed since then.

Though George has decided NOT to film a 3rd trilogy, he IS planning on re-vamping all 6 films into the 3-D format and releasing one at at time. The first one was supposed to come out in 2008. Will he ever be satisfied with those films?

Hopefully not. The series has been pretty good so far. Even the new movies. Making good sequels is very tricky buisness. Im surprised it hasn't been screwed up already.
