make her a card yourself, i used to do that all the time for my nan.
If you can find a photo of you and her together, maybe spend a tiny bit of money, get a photo frame with me & my mum written on it or somethin, i got one from clintons or any other card/gift shop. she would prob love that.
otherwise, as you obviously have the internet, go to go to www.freeukstuff.com and click on samples on the list on the left.

its a website on every company giving away freebies or free samples, all you have to do usually is click on the link, and fill in your details.
i go on this all the time, you can get free perfume/makeup/shampoo samples for her. i know its not much but there aren't many freebies around in this world.
Anyway at least that site might give you some ideas.

You can always make her a nice card, and write something on the inside that would make her feel good. You dont need money to do that. And you can always place a photo of you and her or something else on the inside of it. I am just putting some ideas out there.

If I were your mum I'd love coupons for help with housework or running to the store, and for hugs and kisses or sitting together and watching a movie she likes with popcorn..just the 2 of you. You can make them on the computer...

This coupon entitles the beaarer to.....and then you fill in the blank.

I'm a mum and I would love that.

you would be able to desire to marvel her and do some thing you does no longer generally do. Come homestead with flora for her- or plan a picnic someplace and have it already set up so once you opt for for a walk it truly is already set up- sounds cheesy-yet i could be delighted if somebody did that for me. Or, prepare a small scrapbook of photos of the two one in each of you in issues you have finished over the final 2 years jointly and placed captions in your self expressing how plenty you like her and how chuffed she makes you and how happy you're to have her on your existence- it somewhat is larger than any piece of jewellery.

If you have the technology, maybe you could download her a collection of tunes that were number one in the charts on her birthday over the last 40 years. Or 40 tunes with her name in or similar.

On the photo theme - my daughter did a poster for her brother on his 18th birthday of photographs of him through the years, with captions and little voice balloons - you could give something like that a go.

I would give her a head to toe make over (facial, mask, manicure, and pedicure...) the works. I would use products that you already have and naturally made from recipes online. This way you can say happy birthday by pampering her and showing her that she is appreciated and still beautiful (a lot of women dread turning 30 and 40).

Something she can keep - an ornament or jewellery - it doesn't have tobe expensive - you don;t have to go into the posh shops or for brand labels - it just has to mean something - so the trick is to get something which means something to the two of you - a favourite place, a family joke, favourite pet, that sort of thing.

for my mums birthday, i bought a photo album, collected various photos of her from the past and wrote a poem to her and put it in the back page. she said it was the best present ever and one she will cherish.
