39.00 (total paid) - 19.50 (daily rate) = 19.50 (gas mileage amount).

19.50 (gas amt.) / .26 (per mile rate) = 75 miles traveled.

You take the total amount he paid minus the 19.50 he paid for one day. Then take that total amount and divide it by how much he pays per mile and it will give you how many miles he traveled.

39.00 - 19.50 = 19.50 to figure out the $ he spent for the miles

he spent 19.50$ for having the car for ONE DAY
he spent also 19.50$ total for the miles ... you must divide the 19.50$ by the 0.26$ each mile to see how many miles he traveled

19.50/0.26 = 75

He traveled 75 miles
