I've seen how they make tartan and other pattern cloth but i can't think how they would make the seemingly random swirls

its patterned based, the computer will be coded with a pattern to follow and insert different colours and lines in a form of shape to create a leopard look. It is a method used for all patterns including knitting... you have a number sequence that is suggested upon following to create a pattern.
