may be your RAM have problem, try to upgrade it

"stalling" do you mean locking up?
1. Clean the fans and cooling fins inside of your computer.
2. Make sure the computer isn't infected with a virus or spyware.
Those are the two main reasons for lockups.
A monitor whose colors are off are a sign that either the unit is dying (bad color gun) or that the cable isnt' plugged in correctly. Right now I'm betting your red color gun isn't working correctly.

Mine is to,it's a dell,not a year yet, a piece junk,best buy said they may be able to save it,do you know how to restore date,if so try that,but go to a date before it started running slow. Good Luck.
