I have 6 kids and they are not allowed to have boyfriends / girlfriends until they are 16.
If they are going out with a group then they can be 13/14.
This goes for my boys as well as my girls.

Even though I had my first "boyfriend" when I was 11, and next when I was 12, it was definitely a mistake. I should have waited until I was at least 14. But it differs for every personality and sometimes dating at a young age can teach them the sort of lesson that one can learn only through experience. One can never really know an EXACT age that is mature enough. It depends on the kid.

About 14 with very STRICT supervision...it seems early but the best way to drive a wedge between you and your children is to prevent them from having boyfriend/girlfriend relationships when they want one. No dates or car rides at that age, just group activities and HE can come to your house to watch TV. If you have a son then he should go to her house with parental supervision.
