I actually really like both! Just because her Legal name is Lillian you can still call her Americus. (loved it in "Where The Heart Is" too!

Americus is a nice name and Lillian Rose is a pretty name for a girl also. Lillian means: A Lily, or God's Oath and Rose means: Love. You can always nickname her Lily Love if you don't like Lillian. But she's your daughter name her what YOU want.

If you were going for something unique why Lillian Rose? Sounds like a senior citizen name. Lilly or Ann for a nick name sounds less "old" I guess. Although I don't like the name Americus it is so modern sounding.I'm wondering why did you settled on such the opposite end of the spectrum?
Lillian sounds more "Professional" maybe that's what grandma meant.
What's done is done.
May God (or your higher power) bless Lil Miss Lillian Rose :) You are truly BLESSED Mama !!!!!!

Firstly, this is your child not your mother's. No matter how old you are, a decision like what to name your child is the parent's decision not the grandparent's!

Secondly... I think both names are lovely. Lillian Rose has a wonderful old fashioned quality to it. I happen to be very fond of old fashioned anything, especially names. I think it is a good name. Americus is unique and not in an offensive way that some unique names are. I think it is a good, strong name.

She would be lucky to carry either name, in my opinion, but since you chose Americus, that should be her name.

Americus does not sound like a name at all. I do like Lillian, and I love Rose. I think you made a great choice.....and we should always listen to our mothers right?

Why are you using two posts for the same question?

I like Lillian better than Americus. Just remember that this is a decision that will effect your child for the rest of her life.

Lillian Rose is a pretty name but I think that if it is your baby you have a right to name her whatever you want. I think Americus is unique and if you truly wanted it for your child you should have left it.
