Christmas was the original time people celebrated the winter solstice. The church took it over and stamped it as their holiday.

Honestly, the Flintstones celebrate Christmas because holiday tv/movie specials sell well. Somebody, the creators/producers/etc, wanted to milk the holiday cow, and so they did. Logic plays no part in this. Fun has nothing to do with it either. It's all about the money.

The writers did this just for the fun of it.
Consider it a parallel universe in which the Flinstones could celebrate Christmas.

The Flintstones are "pigments" of someone's imagination and represent what might have been. They are also back before automation and a lot of things.
And anyway, it isn't christ. It's Christ.

For the same reasons they drove what appeared to be a car, listened to what appeared to be a radio, danced to rock & roll style music, and so on - it was a modern, fantasy, cartoon series.

Good question, i dont think any really thought about that, i know i didnt. Maybe they saw into future and started the traditions earlier.

Actually, the Flintstones have their own "rock of ages." His name was Jesus Christone, from Bethlerock.
