I am worried about someone that is using this "tool" to excess and is distractng himself from other things in life.

I've wondered about this myself. I know that it's different for everyone. Too much is when it takes away from daily activities or becomes obsessive. If it's causing a problem I would talk about it with him. I think most men do it at least once a day but probably as often as they can.
