That's algae in the water. It doesn't hurt the bamboo but it can ruin the look. The only thing you can do is clean the inside of the glass periodically or change the water more often.

I don't have my lucky bamboo in a clear container, so don't know what color the water is, but think your water just needs to be changed more.

That fortunate bamboo is a dracena and needs extra help in cleansing that indoor air area. NASA did a "sparkling Air Plant study" many years in the past and also you should examine what the outcomes were. someone gave me a death fortunate bamboo and that i took it homestead and positioned it into some good potting soil and it began to strengthen like loopy outside or maybe as it sprouted new branches I decrease and again them to the pal that gave it to me. good luck.

Your plant is probibly in direct sunlight while you sister plant is in the shade more. While the sun is great for you plant you get algie. To get rid of it, place a small color full snail in with you root's. He will keep the glass clean (He's also healthy for you bamboo) their kinda fun and you can get almost any color you want at pet smart or a shop that carries fish.
