Uhuh... and what do you think is better? Looney tunes? Give it up. Just because you dont like anime doesnt mean other people think the same as you.

I've been watching anime since I was a little kid, so I'm basically an anime freak. Anime is part of my life, and I'm sure other anime fans think the same.

And what is so cheap, and boring? Give me some examples before you start pointing fingers. Hey, why dont you actually try and watch some classic anime and then tell me how cheap and boring they really are.

Most of the time, anime is based on its mirror version in book form, which is manga. Manga is in its perfect essence: japanese graphic novels. And dont even start saying that manga is cheap and boring because its not.

It takes a long time to write up a storyline, and then draw the whole thing out for the readers. In its own way, anime is even harder. Because you have to draw every action, every blink, every hint of emotion into you characters.

There are SO many different types of anime, that they all can not ALL be cheap and boring. Fighting, Romance, Supernatural, Magic... and those are just a few of the very wide collection of categories that anime has to offer. People of all different tastes can enjoy atleast one anime out there.

My question to you is, how can you NOT like anime?

It's because some people are open minded and have above 2 digit IQ's. Whatever experience you had with anime I'm sure it lead to way you perceive it. There are many reasons why a misinformed person would dislike anime. With this said I'd like to explain the common misconceptions about the form.

Random Person: Anime looks cheaply made, It's true that a lot of early anime(80's-90's) was made to cut back on expenses, but If you were to look at the overall quality of recent anime you will be quite suprised to notce that the quality is superb, in fact recent anime has the greatest production quality for animation in the world. If you are unsure then watch Basilisk(IFC friday nights) or the current adult swim line-up.

Random Person: why do they have big eyes and huge mouths? This myth should be met with hypocrisy considering that early anime artist were influenced by the likes of Walt Disney and Chuck Jones. They would emulate this "Americanized" look and apply these to their early character design, which in turn became the basis for drawing anime.

Random Person: why don't anime characters look Japanese and why isn't there any diversity?
This ties into what was mentioned above, earlier mangaka wanted to appeal to a broader audience, they figured that if they produced non japanese looking characters then they would gain broader appeal to the western nations. It's not because of racial insecurities or any bizarre inclination. You will find though that contemporary mangaka such as Masamune or Watanabe that there is a broad range of different ethnic characteristics(not caricatures) present in their character designs.

Random Person: Why is it so strange?
It is so strange to you because it is written in the respect of a different culture, a non judeo christian culture. This means that there is more room for artists to exercise philosophies and different beliefs. You will find in a lot of anime that sometimes there is no good or evil, but just opposing human conflict. The equation of intelligence comes into question when viewing anime as well, I'll be honest, I've sat through some anime without a clue, it's definitely more fast pace than its american counterpart and it requires critical evaluation. This does not mean though that all anime is like this, the great thing about it is that there is so much types to choose from. If someone tells me they don't like anime then that usually tells me that person has had an experience with an anime they didn't care for, unlike it's american counterpart anime has more types of genres(17 if I'm exact) and you'll find that themes often interlap.

Random Person: why are anime fans so zealous?
You'll understand if you ever have the opportunity to watch the anime that was made specifically for you, it will start as curiousity and finish with full blown otakuness(fanboyism).

I hope this clears up any questions or concerns you have about anime.^^

Honestly, how can anyone NOT like Anime? To say that you don't like Anime is to say that you don't like an entire art form, a whole universe of animation that has taken western animation and improved upon it in practically every way. Even the BEST western animators give props to their japanese counterparts - take Pixar's John Lasseter's respect and admiration for Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki. And the reverse is also true! Miyazaki-san also respects Mr. Lasseter. No one who truly understands and loves animation could say that they dislike all the Anime that ever was, is, or will be.

When people say they "hate" or "dislike" Anime in general, they usually haven't had a very diverse sampling of Anime. There really is an Anime series, film or short out there for everyone, and if you say you dislike Anime, you probably just haven't seen it yet.

Well, im not here to convince you to like anime. You have the right to what you say. Ill just try and answer your question. Yes, there are alot of anime that are actually cheap and boring. but most of em are not. Most of their stories are serious. not just the "Im gonna hunt a wabbit and get my but kicked" scenario with looney toons. dont get me wrong, i love looney toons. and i collect disney movies too. but what they dont have is the depth of most of the animes stories. if you want proof, try watching "FullMetal Alchemist" and "now and then, here and there". in terms of animation and style, different anime have different styles. and as time goes on, anime just keeps getting better and btter.

cuz it let you live in a world where dreams and fantasies come true, like cartoons, anime is about imagination and keeping your soul alive (cuz like i've read in a book, without dreams and imagination, you're just a walking dead body!)
