i have already looked in the manual. i'm trying to transfer pics by infrared from my phone to the PC. by the way, its a dell laptop......if that helps.

It is usually a small dark "window" on one of the edges; it can be square or round depending on the manufacturer.
If you listed the model of the laptop in your question, you would probably get a very specific answer. I'm on a Mac and it is a round window on the front edge just below my right wrist.

It may show as a little square window in the side of the bottom half, probably on the front edge. hard to spot sometimes. Are you sure the laptop has infra-red and its turned on??
