I'm staying with a family for three months and they have two cats ... from the moment I've been here I've woken with bites and have caught a few little bugs (that don't die when you squish them!). My host sister just told me that they're fleas. I don't allow the cats in my room because I'm allergic ... is it possible to get rid of the fleas from my room? I've never had to deal with fleas at home ... and I don't want to bring any home with me. Is there any way to prevent that?

Find another place if you can. You have to treat the house, yard & pets all at the same time. In the meantime, you can get a flea "bomb" for your room, but if it says use one, use all three in the pack. Make sure all doors & windows are closed. Put a towel at the base of the door, etc & after you set them off, stay out for several hours & then open up the windows to ventilate the room, before you go back in.

Wings, please get out of the place if you can. Fleas are very harmful. You "host sister" should be thoughtful enough of you to get her cats treated with Frontline. You could try something but just make sure you wash your feet. Fleas hate Sevin Dust. You could use the dust around your door and also on the floor. Just don't get it in your eyes or skin. It will not kill you, but it just is irritating to human skin. I hope you get this problem solved. I had to use Sevin dust on my mother's carpet because of the fleas. After a couple of days, you can vacuum. I know a lot of people might not agree with this, but it might be your only solution other than moving.

ARE THEY FLEAS OR BEDBUGS???? FIND OUT WHICH.FLEAS CANNOT BE GOTTEN RID OF IN ONLY ONE ROOM. YOU'D HAVE TO TREAT THE WHOLE HOUSE. BEDBUGS ARE REALLY TOUGH TO GET RID OF. LOTSA LUCK.
