My desktop takes about a minute to start up. But it seems a lot longer than that. I'm so impatient.

Desktop, about 2 minutes to login, and another 30 secs for startup programs. It takes longer than average b/c I have a lot of stuff on my computer - 2 dvd drives, fan controller, upgraded sound and video, webcam, 2 external drives, 1 internal drive and 1 internal RAID 5 array drive, a video capture card, etc., so it takes a while.
Can I ask why? Is it just curiosity or are you having problems with yours?

About 45 seconds from pushing the power button to signing in to loading the seven small programs I have at start up, including anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware. It's a Dell.

Mine takes about a minute but if you're sitting there waiting, sometimes it seems like forever.
