When is the last time you had a pap? This is not a sign of menopause but it is a sign of endometriosis. Sometimes this can be detected in a pap but you may need more testing. Believe me if it is endometriosis you want to find out and get fixed asap because the stretching becomes more like tearing and stabbing after a while.

Increasingly painful periods is a symptom of menopause.

You are definitely at the right age...
Premenopause starts on average around 35, and lasts 10 - 12 years.
Perimenopause is 2 - 3 years.
Then full on menopause, when you have not had a period for 12 consecutive months.

Go to your GP could be fibroids. Need to get a scan. Don't suffer unnecessarily.

i get those, too. i "think" it is because the body is releasing the remaining "stuff". I would still check with your gyno.
