Belly buttons can be painful. They are also easily infected because the belly button is the dirtiest part of the body. You need to make sure that it is always clean to prevent infections.
Your ears aren't that painful...Just a little prick and it's over. However if you ever consider to pierce the top of your ears, that will bit a bit more painful than the lobes, but not much!!!

I'm not sure about the ear lobes, because mine were pierced when I was a little baby (so I don't remember at all), but as far as the belly button goes, not really. Your nerves are pretty much what will get to you. Obviously it will pinch and sting for a second, but it's not nearly as bad as anyone could imagine. I'm completely afraid of needles and sharp piercing objects -- but I got my belly button pierced anyway and I'm glad I did it. The hardest part about it is really just keeping it clean and making sure it doesn't get infected, beccasue if it does -- that's when it will really hurt. lol. =)

ear lobe piercing is quick n painless just a pinch is what it feels like. I have my belly button pierced also it didn't hurt. But other people say it does it all depends on your tolerence for pain.

I had my belly button pierced 3 years ago. I still love it, and here's what I think:
those who say it doesn't hurt either have a really extremely supa dupa excellent piercer, or they lie. It does hurt. The pain will go away and it will heal fast but it definitely will hurt. Come on, they're piercing your skin with a needle, whatever you do with it you'll still feel it!
Mine got infected though after a time and that was the one that didn't hurt. Yes it looks nasty until it heals but it doesn't hurt.

I love answering this type of question because I get lots of hate mail.

Last time I answered this I received 9 threats of murder.

Here we go then - EVERYONE LISTENING? (or should I say READING?)

Only common people have piercing (other than for earings)
Only common people have tattoos.

If you ever mix with a better class of person - not somebody that enjoys laying in the gutter - you will not see one body piercing or tattoo.

So, if you think you are really common and want to tell everybody else that you are - go ahead.

Okay - you can all start threatening me again.

Ear lobes hurt some. It is really just a sting and goes away soon. (from the gun I guess) A needle might be better. The bellybutton, the clamp pinches and the needle is no big deal.

Your belly doesn't hurt to get pierced. It's a tiny bit uncomfortable, but that's it!

Ears, I found slightly more painful, which is odd as most people think it's painless...it doesn't hurt, it jsut shocks you!!

The more you anticipate it hurting, the worse it'll be!

Getting your earlobes pierced only stings for a minute or two. It hurts a little more as you move up the ear.

My ears didn't bother me, except the one in my tragus. My belly button hurt more, and you cannot let your waist band from your pants rub it, or it will take forever to heal.
