I live in zone 7 in the states-- that's Oklahoma. My clementis is on the north side of the house and was planted last year. It made it thru the winter and has done very well this year. Last winter was dry and not too cold. If this year is colder I will cover the base of the plant with leaves and mulch and make sure it has enough moisture. Lack of water will kill plants faster than low temperatures in my opinion.
good luck

last year I just left mine and it came on good this year with more blooms, it will not need watering at this time of the year if you are in the UK. it does die down, only natural that the leaves will die off, just keep the slugs away from it.
