You can get an egg to stand on it's end any day of the year. It's just an urban legend that it only works on the solstice, confirmed by that being the only day anyone thinks to try it.

Hardboiling the egg first works better - as does sprinkling some salt on the table first.

Someone is really having you on. Just imagine no eggs would be laid at equinox. The fouls would not tolerate it.......

Well my advice would be don't just settle for people's opinions make an experiment and check it out for yourself.

Some of these folk tales are true and some are not. There are lots and lots of people who believe in things that are not true and just as many who don't believe in things that are true.
