Probably over 99 percent, maybe as high as 99.9 percent.

The list of newly categorized species which can only found in fossils is growing faster than the list of currently living species.

Some species became extinct over 500 million years ago. Periodically as high as 30 to 60 percent of then currently living species died out in Holocaust events (including one which killed the dinosaurs).
