I have checked out Universities since the fifth grade and have fallen in love with Princeton University. Now I am a Freshman and I am working my butt off in high school b/c that's what really shows up on my permenant record. I have a 4.0 GPA and an A+ (100% or higher) in 4 out of 7 classes... However, my family is NOT financially capable of sending me to Princeton, even though I have been working part-time for a year and saving every penny just to go to my dream college. I don't know if a student loan will cover my expenses to Princeton, and I don't know if Princeton would even consider me for a scholarship... CAN a person recieve a full ride on academics? That's my goal, but is it possible??? Please let me know if there is even a glimmer of hope for me and I'm not trying my hardest for nothing.

Most colleges are needs-blind, and I'm not sure, but I think Princeton is part of the elite schools that offer free rides for low-income families. There are several institutions that are offering this deal (I know Harvard and Yale are two), so you might want to see if Princeton has joined the pack. Good luck in applying (I'm currently a junior, and I'm still thinking about it). Remember, you need great academics and passion. Have something you would really like to do or you are interested in, and take that to the next level! Good luck again!!

Talk to the financial aid department at Princeton. They can tell you more.

be sure to apply to the "safety" schools...the ones that you have a really good shot of getting into.

Do well in the 4 years you spend at high school. I think you would have a better shot of going full ride at Princeton if you keep on getting A's in high school

good luck :-)

btw..it is possible to get a full ride on academics. I've heard of some people getting a full ride.

You sound like you are doing a great job in preparing yourself for college. Now, contact Princeton, and find out from them about admission, financial aid, etc. And don't forget, you will need more than academics -- community service (volunteering), music, athletics, hobbies, etc., to show that you are well-rounded and mature. Good luck!

Sure you can! If you keep up what your doing, there sure is a chance. you could try to get a scholarship by mabye being in a sport or being involved in music. Just be a part of something you really love, and mabye someday Princeton will want you more than you want them! keep following your dream, you can do it!

Besides scholarship and loans, you can also check out government grants to see if you qualify. Continue to study hard. I am sure your hard work will be rewarded...
