Simply put, I don't like the idea of living life on someone else's terms. Dreams keep you alive. Give you a sense of who you are. Also, you have to believe that in the end, what you strive for with your mind and soul will eventually form you to a better self. And never forget to have fun. Life without fun will wear you down quicker than a rough winter on a good pair of shoes.

I have a disease that has caused me pain in every inch of my body since the age of 8. I fight through life and not give up when things get tough because I can. According to the doctors I should be long dead. I live to enjoy each day pain or no pain. I am now almost 50 y/o and my husband just left me. I am disabled and only get SSI not much money to live on. I can barely get out of bed most mornings but I do it and I challange myself to do something new at least weekly. Life is too precious to just give up.

For me, giving up is not an option. The only way to truly "give up" at life is to kill yourself, and I'de never do that. I continue to fight because I know that challenges will only make us stronger and more knowledgable. I know no matter what, something good has to come out of anything I go through, so I push harder and harder until I get there. The satisfaction from overcoming whatever obstacle I am faced with is drive enough to get through it.

Because in life, like so many other things, giving up isn't an option.
Life is simply what you make it.
Some of the keys to life are;
Being honest with yourself, not everyone can be a rocket scientist.
be true to yourself, do the things that give you purpose, reason and fulfillment, not being concerned with what others think or say.
Finally realizing that your position in life at, say 35, is a direct result of decisions that you made.
Realizing that no matter how bad things are for you there are thousands of others in the same boat.
But then that's just my opinion.

I look at how much time I may have left and know that every day to come could be day when things change for the better and every day following is just as good.

Also, the fact that Ihave the power to alter how bad situations affect me and the rest of the day helps me alot. If I make an effort to not make my 1001st bad day to depress me, it just simply will not depress me. That power motivates me.

Overall, a combination of hope and power to overcome.

No matter how bad things have gotten, how much grief and despair I've experienced, somewhere in the back of my mind I've just known there would be moments of joy and wonder ahead and I just don't want to miss that no matter what. It's been worth it the price.

If I were to give up on life, may as well write my own living eulogy. Sure.. walking, talking, and breathing , but when you give up on living life no matter how hard it can be, your mind has passed on and your brain is dead.

Wait long enough and everything changes. Even the most difficult problems will give way to something else.

Honestly, it's:

* Habit
* Curiosity (to see what humans will do next)

Other than that, I really can't come up with a reason...
